La Maddalena Archipelago

Where the sea shape the juniper

In the La Maddalena Archipelago, between Caprera and the wildest islands of the Mediterranean, the Coccolone Juniper grows just a few meters from the sea, shaped by the wind and salt. A land where the marine nature meets the Mediterranean scrub, creating botanicals of extraordinary intensity.

We didn’t choose the Archipelago of La Maddalena by chance. Here, where the northern wind relentlessly batters the granite shores, the botanicals develop a unique character. The Juniperus Oxycedrus, locally known as Coccolone Juniper, grows nestled among the rocks just a few meters from the sea, in one of the purest and most unspoiled areas of the Mediterranean.

The choice of Caprera and the surrounding islands was driven by the pursuit of ultimate purity: in these places, almost untouched by human presence, the botanicals grow according to the rhythms of nature alone. This extraordinary juniper is the heart of our Mediterranean Gin, born from these wild shores.

The Botanicals of the Mediterranean

  • Mediterranean Juniper (Juniperus Oxycedrus): Resinous and woody, with a character shaped by the sea

  • Fig Leaves (Ficus Carica): Soft and fresh, with vegetal hints

  • Thyme (Thymus Herba-Barona): Warm and aromatic

  • Bay Laurel (Laurus Nobilis): Intense balsamic notes

  • Bitter Orange (Citrus aurantium): Bright and vibrant citrusy notes

  • Myrtle (Myrtus Communis): Fragrant and herbal, with a slight berry sweetness

The Harvest

The harvest takes place between late May and mid-February, depending on when the different botanicals reach their aromatic peak. Our foragers move through the granite cliffs, hand-picking each ingredient. It is a task that requires expertise and respect for the land: each botanical is harvested at the perfect moment, when the sun and sea have infused it with their unique character.
